Senior School Athletics Day

Finally the weather was good enough for the Senior School to hold the annual Athletics Day. All the students participated in sprints, vortex, high jump, quoits, and a fun event. It was a successful day with everyone trying their best at the events. Here are some photos from the year 6 girls competing in the quoits. Hopefully there may be more photos from other teachers.

Best wishes for the athletes that made it into Interschool Athletics. This will be held next Wednesday - weather depending!

Duffy Theatre

Easy Blog Photo
Duffy managed to save Ruby's dad and she learnt to read. Here Ruby and Duffy are reading and discussing books they have read. It was awesome because they told the story through different characters and it was funny. We learnt that reading can take you to different places and you can meet lots of people.

Space Home Learning Project

Easy Blog Photo
Room 9 has been very creative in their home learning. Our home learning project was to make a 3D model about anything to do with space because we have been learning about space. We have a lot of unique, imaginative minds in room 9 as you can see from their models. We worked hard and took our time on our projects to do quality work. We made space ships, the solar system, space station, planets and more. Thanks for the support from home we had in this. Hope you enjoy looking at our ideas.

Matariki Celebration

Easy Blog Photo
Another picture of our Te Manu Tukutuku display. There are 3 types of manu tukutuku on display.
Te manu taratahi - a triangle shape kite, with "tahi" meaning one, referring to the plume at the top of the triangle shape.
Te manu patiki - diamond shaped kite based on the shape of a flounder.
Te manu kahu - combination of a manu taratahi with rectangular wings attached, and a human face.
Room 9 made kites made from natural materials. Toetoe for the frame. Raupo for the horizontal lines, and harakeke to bind the raupo to the toetoe.
Room 10 combined natural resources with wool and creative decorative design.
Room 5 also had some adapted manu tukutuku on display that they made with the help of their buddy class (room 9!). These were the type of manu tukutuku that we made at the Matariki Celebration Evening.
