The Opera Comes To Rangikura

The senior students of Rangikura were treated to a show from the NZ Opera Company on the last Thursday of term. This was a new experience for the students and they were enthralled by how the story was told through singing - in way, not what they would normally listen to.

Te Reo with Whaea Clare and Whaea Toni

Some of the Te Reo learning that we have done in class with the wonderful Whaea Clare and Whaea Toni. The students then share their learning with each other and also with Room 10.

Te Ao Maori with Whaea Toni

The students had a great day with Whaea Toni finding out more about Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga. We had already introduced these ideas into the class so Whaea Toni was able to build upon the students' understandings and introduced some new terms such as "whakapapa whanau" and "kaupapa whanau".
There will be a display next term where the students have developed a poster using these principles showing what it means to them and includes some artwork generated illustrating their whanau. We hope you can come along and see it. Have a look on your child's blog to have a preview!

Learning with Room 10

Here is another Te Reo session we have done with Room 10 sharing and supporting each other with our Te Reo knowledge. It is wonderful hearing and seeing the conversations and collaborative learning happening across the two classes.

Home Learning

Here are some of the creative ideas that Room 9 came up with for their ideal Easter Egg.

Congratulations to Rhiannon, Ronita, Rita and Azaliah for their unique ideas and the extra effort they put into their home learning.
